A Buzzy Make-Along

Did I Mention There are Prizes for Participating?

Now that we have chosen our project, it’s time to raise some buzz about this important initiative. Between now and June 30, share your bee themed projects on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok using the hashtag #buzzymakealong

Make sure to tag me in the post so that I can see it and share it. This will also enter you for a chance to win a prize including a Megs & Co gift card!

I encourage everyone to follow the hashtag #buzzymakealong and share each other’s projects so that we can swarm the interwebs with the buzz about bees

The United Nations designated today World Bee Day to raise awareness of the importance of bees. Bees are under a continuous threat from human activity, which includes the introduction of invasive insects, pesticides, land-use change, and monocropping practices, which have continuously been destroying bee colonies over time.

In an effort to help raise awareness of the critical mission of this organization, I am hosting a bee themed make-along all month long!

So How Does it Work?

Simply choose any bee themed fiber craft related project and get to work! There are so many possibilities. You can crochet a bee plushy, embroider a bee onto a garment, or perhaps choose a knit design that features a colorwork bee motif.

I will be casting on the Mellifera Cowl by Jamie Lomax. This is a two stranded colorwork design that is knit in the round and features mix and match bee themed motifs including honeycombs and bees for a unique project that is completely your own. It requires two skeins of DK weight yarn in contrasting colors.

I put together a bunch of fun color combinations for you to choose from and for the next week I will include a digital copy of the pattern with each kit purchase.
