Raising Funds & Raising Eyebrows

Back in early spring, Jill Bigelow of The Bean Knits not only had an idea for a new shawl design, but she had an idea to use this design as a way to support important charitable organizations. She reached out to a few indie yarn dyers, including myself, to see if we wanted to join her efforts to give back to this wonderful community that has shown us so much love and support, and of course I said yes! With this I had the pleasure to test knit the Raising Eyebrows shawl along with my friends from Bewitched Pigments, BzyPeach, Modeknit Yarns, and Why Knot Fibers.

The design is so much fun to knit with the right amount of relaxing garter stitch rows paired with a few easy short rows for shaping the wedges and of course those enchanting textural eyelet sections that we lovingly called eyebrows.

I chose to knit my shawl using Megs & Co Classic Sock using the colorways Goldfinch & Allentown as my main colors paired with Sangria for the contrasting eyebrow sections.

Each maker chose a specific charity support. For my charity I chose the Alzheimer's Association of the Rochester & Finger Lakes Region in memory of my father who lost is battle with this devastating degenerative disease in 2008. Kits are still available for a limited time and, I will continue to donate $25 from each sale to the Alzheimer's Association. So far we have been able to raise $650 and I want to see that number grow even higher.
