There is Nothing Wrong with Your Head in the Clouds

A huge re-stock of Head in the Clouds just dropped into the Megs & Co Yarn Shop! Head in the Clouds is my laceweight mohair silk blend as well as my current obsession that I have been adding into all the things these days. I love the versatility of this yarn as it gives any project a cloud like softness that you can see and feel, while being perfect for both warm and cold weather designs due to its ability to be highly insulating but incredibly lightweight and moisture wicking.

So what exactly is Mohair anyway?

In the fashion and textile industry, Mohair is one of the most prized natural fibers. It is used to create everything from high-end sweaters and accessories to carpets and upholstery. Mohair is a soft wool that come from the hair of the Angora goat (not to be confused with Angora fiber that actually comes from rabbits) and is commonly given the nickname the “diamond fiber” as the wool is characterized by a distinct luster and sheen that when blended with other textiles such as alpaca or merino, the mohair lends that luster to the fibers.

Mohair is a popular fiber and great choice to add into just about any project as it adds strength, warmth, and luxury to any item. Mohair is incredibly strong and durable and will not felt since unlike sheep derived wools, the fiber shaft does not have any scales. Mohair allows you to create the most delicate looking garments and accessories without sacrificing strength and longevity and is easy to add into just about any project simply by holding a strand of lace weight Mohair yarn together with your main yarn.
